Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken

Here is how to make this super easy teriyaki chicken right at home in your crockpot or slow cooker with its homemade sauce made from ingredients right in your pantry!

If you like Chinese style dishes you should try my other homemade recipes too:

First time I made this recipe I had spent the whole day swimming with my kids and realized when we got home at 3 that I needed to have dinner ready by 6:00 when the husband walked in the door. This dinner totally pulled through for me and my husband was shocked that I had made the sauce from scratch! I love Chinese and Asian dishes, especially made at home so it was no surprise to me that I loved this dish the first time I tried it. You have got to try this recipe!

Crockpot Chicken Tips

Should I cook frozen chicken breasts in the crockpot?

I personally don’t prefer doing this but it can be done. If you are going to cook this recipe with frozen chicken cook on low for about 8 hours to make sure the chicken is all the way cooked.

What is the best thing to serve with crockpot teriyaki chicken?

I love to serve rice with this recipe as a side dish. You can absolutely serve it with fried rice or Chinese noodles as well.

Can I add veggies or fruits to crockpot teriyaki chicken?

Absolutely! I love serving grilled pineapple with this recipe! You can also add stir fry veggies into the crock pot the last 2 hours of cooking to make sure they don’t get too soggy.

Steps to Make Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken

  1. Place chicken in a crockpot.
  2. Mix in a bowl sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, garlic, pepper. Once mixed together well pour over chicken. Cook on high for about 2 1/2 hours (or until chicken is cooked all the way through)
  3. Remove chicken from crockpot and cut in slices (as pictured above)
  4. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl.
  5. Put the remaining sauce in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Slowly add the cornstarch mixture and continue to stir until sauce is thickened.
  6. Put chicken over steamed rice and drizzle sauce over the top. And drizzle even more if you are addicted to sauces like I am!
