The Best Burger & The Best Burger Toppings!

The Best Burger Toppings

The best burger toppings are the key to taking a burger from good to great! How the actual patty is seasoned and cooked along with the toppings that are placed on the burger itself is so important! Those two components are what makes a good burger in my book.

The other night I was out with some girlfriends and we were at a local BBQ place that is one of my favorites. It is in Tempe, Arizona and is called Lucilles BBQ. We ordered way too much food and I took home the left over onion straws. I had hamburger meat at home and I knew just what I was going to do with the leftovers. Make my deluxe BBQ cheeseburger! This is seriously my favorite on my list of best burger toppings!

So first lets talk about the perfect seasoning and marinade that you will need to make your burgers excellent! I like to also add a little Worcestershire sauce into the hamburger patties to make them moist. I marinade them in that for as long as possible and sprinkle the seasoning on both sides of the patties. Season generously.

The best hamburger seasoning:

  • 4 teaspoons paprika
  • 3 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Combine all ingredients in a small container and put on lid and shake up. Then season meat patties. (This is enough for 1 pound of meat) Make sure that you butter the hamburger buns and place them on the grill for a few minutes or until they begin to brown.

Slice onion into very thin slices. Place in a baking dish and cover with buttermilk and soak for at least an hour. Combine dry ingredients and set aside. Heat oil to 375 degrees. Grab a handful of onions, throw into the flour mixture, tap to shake off excess, and dump into hot oil. 1. I like the sound of those onion straws since I would assume that they would add some more texture top your burger. I could see how those would add quite a bit of flavor as well. Next time I go to get a burger I might have to ask for some of those on my burger so I could see if I like them.
