Blackberry BBQ Sauce Recipe

There are so many different types of BBQ sauce. Once that are more on the mustard side, or the vinegar side, or the spicy side or the sweet side. This right here is a sweet BBQ that isn’t too sweet. Since blackberries aren’t ridiculously sweet this sauce gives you the perfect balance! It was perfect for the entire family and we all absolutely loved it on our ribs that we made with this rib rub. Try it out!

 

How to Make Blackberry BBQ Sauce

Blackberry BBQ Sauce Recipe

Blackberry BBQ Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 chicken bullion cube
  • 16 ounces blackberries
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Ingredients

Instructions

 
  1. In a sauce pan add the water, chicken bullion and blackberries. Bring to a simmer. While smashing the blackberries. Simmer for 6 minutes. Then transfer to a container to cool.
 
 
2. Wipe out the sauce pan then add the remaining ingredients. Stir well. Then take a strainer and put on top of the saucepan. Then pour in the blackberries. Using a spatula strain the juice into the saucepan while the seeds and blackberry chunks stay in the strainer.
 
 
3. You can dump the stuff in the strainer and bring the stuff in the saucepan to a boil and simmer for about 10-12 minutes. Or until the sauce becomes thicker and coats the back of your spoon. Then serve!
