Roasted Brussel Sprouts
Roasted Brussel Sprouts
Roasting Vegetables is a great way to serve cooked vegetables while still keeping them healthy and nutritious.
Roasted Brussel sprouts can be prepped in less than 5 minutes, which makes them a perfect easy side dish. My kids love brussel sprouts especially when I serve them with Southern fried pork chops, lemon curd salmon, or grilled bbq chicken.
Don’t think you like Brussel sprouts?
My husband said no to Brussel sprouts for years. Which meant that my kids also said no to Brussel sprouts for years. Then I tried roasting them and my kids and husband was sold on them. We have enjoyed them almost weekly since then.
What do roasted Brussel sprouts taste like? They are crispy on the outside and have a nutty flavor on the inside.
How to roast brussel sprouts
First step is to pre heat the oven to 400 degrees. That will take longer than actually prepping the Brussel sprouts.
Prepping
Take your Brussel sprouts and give them a good wash. Then remove any of the outside leaves that may look yellowish. Then I like to slice mine in half
Coating
I like to place them on a cookie sheet and drizzle with olive oil and then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and some garlic salt.
You can even grab a ziplock bag and place the Brussel sprouts in the bag and then drizzle, season, and shake.
Then place on a cookie sheet and they are prepped and ready to go.

Baking or Roasting
Take a cookie sheet and you can lightly grease it or place down a sheet of parchment paper. Then arrange the Brussel sprouts in an even layer and then place in the oven at 400 degrees
How long to roast Brussel sprouts
Well this depends on how crispy you like them! The easiest way to change it is by upping the temperature
- For extra crispy Brussel sprouts 475 degrees for 15-20 minutes
- For crispy outside and tender inside 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes
- For not so crispy but still tender 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes
How to take your Brussel sprouts up a notch
Bacon Brussel Sprouts
Do them just like the recipes says but dice up some bacon and evenly spread and then pop in the oven and roast them and the bacon will crisp up
Balsamic Brussel Sprouts
I like to drizzle them with olive oil and the seasonings and then after I arrange them on the pan I toss them in a few tablespoons of balsamic vinegar. Then if you really want to enhance the balsamic flavor drizzle them with balsamic glaze after they are done cooking.
What to serve Brussel sprouts with?
You really can serve them with anything! I love to have them as a side dish for Easter or Thanksgiving but I also love to have them just with our weekly menu to add more vegetables into the week!
