Overnight Baked Creme Brûlée French Toast

Overnight Baked Creme Brûlée French Toast

Honestly this is the best “French Toast” I have ever had in my life!

This recipe is a mix between a french toast, bread pudding, and creme brûlée. All in one! I mean could you ask for anything more in life!??

I make a lot of food. Like a lot! And usually my next door neighbor gets to taste 95% of everything! When I made this I honestly couldn’t wait to have her taste it! I ran it over and her response is exactly what I was expecting! “You need to quit the Hot Cookie Truck and start selling this” (some of you may not know but I have a food truck that sells homemade cookies and ice cream or pizookies)

This recipe was UNBELIEVABLE!!! like I tasted it and I surprised myself.. like did I honestly just whip up something this amazing!? haha and to be honest I don’t surprise myself too often. And my husband isn’t really phased by amazing food. It is just part of his life haha!

Overnight Baked Creme Brûlée French Toast

Ingredients

1 loaf french bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
6 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup half and half
1 teaspoon vanilla
juice of 1/2 an orange
zest of half an orange
pinch salt
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Mix all the ingredients (except the bread) in a bowl. Whisk until eggs are combined. Then in a 9 x 13 baking dish put in the bread cubes. (I have made it with normal bread and french bread, thicker more dense bread is better for this recipe so go with the french bread) Then after the bread is in the baking dish pour over the egg mixture. Mix it all together. Cover. and Put in fridge OVERNIGHT.

In the morning add:

1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup brown sugar

Mix the melted butter and brown sugar together. Then grab a cookie sheet and arrange the bread that has soaked overnight on the cookie sheet in a single layer. Then drizzle the butter and brown sugar mixture over the bread.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. If the sugar hasn’t caramelized then after 20 minutes turn it on broil for a minute. Then serve!
