This recipe for tortellini is covered in a delicious homemade garlic butter sauce. The whole dish can be made in about 15 minutes which is a life saver on busy weekend nights! I love tortellini because it is so filling and my kids honestly get full on only a few tortellini noodles. Especially with this rich garlic butter sauce! If I am feeding a crowd, tortellini is typically on the menu!

15-Minute Garlic Butter Tortellini

Looking for a fast but filling pasta dish to make?! This tortellini recipe cooks fast and is stuffed with fillings to keep you going and is sure to be family favorite! It is full of warm, familiar flavors that will compliment any side!

Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Tortellini
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 T minced garlic
  • 1 heaping Tablespoon corn starch
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper
  • parmesan cheese

Instructions

    1. In a saucepan add the butter and begin to melt. Drizzle in the olive oil and then the minced garlic. Cook for a minute or so. Then bring to a boil
    2. In a container or bowl add the chicken broth. Whisk in the corn starch.  Add the mixture to the butter and oil once it begins to boil.
    3. Add the Italian seasoning and salt and pepper.
    4. Whisk continually while the cornstarch begins to thicken and a sauce is formed. 
    5. Cook the tortellini according to the directions on the back. Then drain and add the pasta to the sauce. 
    6. Top with parmesan cheese and then serve!

How to Cook Tortellini

It is easier then you think! The directions to cook tortellini are right on the back of the package!  Tortellini cooks in abut 5-6 minutes and when they are done drain and they are ready to top with sauce! 

Can I use frozen or dry tortellini?

You can absolutely use a different variety of tortellini for this recipe. Just prepare the tortellini how it says on the back of the packaging.

Can I use other types of pasta?

Yes you absolutely can! If you are going to choose a different type of pasta I would say choose ravioli first! As it is similar to tortellini with a filling.

  2. Probably a silly questions, but why are some of the measurements spelled out and others not? Like 3 T of garlic. But 1Tablespoon of Italian seasoning?
