Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies
Stacked sugar cookies at Christmas are a tradition! But this year I wanted to add another fun element to them. I decided to try making stacked sugar cookies, like Christmas Trees! And boy are they cute!!

Not only are they cute, but these stacked sugar cookies are extra delicious! You can use this recipe for just the sugar cookies or try to make these awesome Christmas trees for the holidays. I love experimenting with different recipes this time of year and it’s always fun to get in the kitchen and bake yummy cookies after dinner. My kids absolutely loved these and are great to bring over for a cookie exchange!
Stacked Sugar Cookies
Stacked Sugar Cookie Christmas Trees
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 2 1/4 cup flour
Instructions
- Cream together butter, crisco, powdered sugar and sugar until fluffy.Add in egg and vanilla. Whip together and scrap the sides and whip together.In a sifter, place flour, baking soda, and cream of tarter and place sifter over wet ingredients and sift.Turn on mixer and continue to mix until all dry ingredients are added.Cover and place in refrigerator for at least a hour, then once chilled, on a floured surface place 1/2 of dough and roll out.Start in the center and go to the edge and then the center to the other edge.Switch directions and roll out until the width is about the size of your pinky.
- Make three sizes of cookie dough balls: 1 teaspoon, 2 teaspoons, and 3 teaspoons. (You should have an even number of each.) Place medium and large cookies on a cookie sheet and press down slightly on each. Bake until center looks mostly cooked, 7 to 8 minutes. Place smallest balls of dough on another cookie sheet and press down slightly. Bake until center looks mostly cooked, 5 to 6 minutes. When cookies are done, remove from oven and let cool 2 to 3 minutes, then transfer to a cookie rack to finish cooling.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 6 to 8 minutes and watch closely.
- Let them sit on the cookie sheet for about 5 minutes and then transfer to a cooling rack.
- Serve and enjoy!

- green food coloring
- Whole Milk, to thin

- Combine ingredients. Add milk slowly until the right constancy. If you accidentally add too much milk add a little more powdered sugar.
2. Pipe a swirl of frosting onto the largest cookie, then add the second medium sized cookie on top. Pipe a swirl of frosting onto the second cookie, then top with the smallest cookie. Swirl on top of the final cookie and decorate with a star and round ornament sprinkles.
