Award Winning Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 lb sausage
  • 2 15 ounce cans kidney beans draining, optional (thicker=drained) (thinner=not drained)
  • 1 15 ounce can corn drained
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 2 15 ounce cans tomato sauce
  • 1 15 ounce can of water
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

optional toppings

  • cheese
  • sour cream
  • green onions

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef and sausage. Then add seasonings to the meat. Add onions, beans, salsa, tomato sauce, water, and brown sugar and simmer on low for at least 1 hour (or you can throw into a crockpot on low for 4 hours) Then serve. Garnish with chopped onions, cheese, and sour cream.
