Tips and FAQ’s
  • What is the best type of bread to use when making French toast?

o Brioche: This rich, buttery bread is perfect for French toast, as it has a tender  crumb and a slightly sweet flavor.

o Sourdough: This tangy, slightly dense bread adds a unique flavor to French toast  and holds up well to the egg mixture.

o Texas toast: This thick-sliced white bread is often used for making French toast  as it can hold up well to the egg mixture and has a soft texture.

  • Ultimately, the type of bread you use for French toast will depend on your personal preferences  and what is available to you. Just make sure to choose a bread that is sturdy enough to hold up  to the egg mixture and has a flavor that complements the sweetness of the French toast.
  • Use stale bread: Fresh bread can become too soggy when dipped in the egg mixture,  which can result in a mushy French toast. Using slightly stale bread will help it hold up  better to the egg mixture and give your French toast a better texture.
  • Don’t over-soak the bread: While it’s important to let the bread soak up the egg  mixture, be careful not to over-soak it. This can result in a soggy and heavy French toast.  Aim for about 30 seconds on each side, or until the bread is just saturated with the egg  mixture.
