How to Make an Easy Allergen-Friendly Pizza Night the Whole Family Can Enjoy
Disclosure: This post is sponsored by TruEats. I received products to try and share my honest experience. All opinions are my own.
My daughter’s friend, who loves to join us for dinner, follows a gluten-free diet, so having easy options that let her enjoy the same kind of meals as the rest of our family is really important to me. When I spotted TruEats Simply Delicious Pizza Crust Mix at Walmart, I knew I wanted to give it a try. I shared the product on my social media, and so many of you wanted more details that I decided to create this post and show you how we used it for our own family pizza night!
Pizza night is one of my favorite easy family dinners! Honestly, anytime I can involve my kids in the kitchen, their dinner is way more likely to get eaten, especially when everyone can customize their own pizza!

What Is an Allergen-Friendly Pizza Crust?
An allergen-friendly pizza crust is made without common allergens. TruEats Simply Delicious Pizza Crust Mix is gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, and nut-free.
The mix contains five simple ingredients: rice flour, whole grain oat flour, whole grain sorghum flour, xanthan gum, and salt. It also has no added sugar.
TruEats Simply Delicious mixes are gluten-free and allergen-friendly, with careful production practices in place to minimize cross-contact. Although they’re made in a facility that also processes peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, dairy, eggs, and soy, each batch is produced in a segregated room using equipment that has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Every batch is also tested after production for potential allergen contamination, including gluten. As with any food product, families managing severe allergies should always review the packaging to make sure it meets their individual dietary needs.
Easy Pizza Night Everyone Can Enjoy
I love meals where my kids can get involved, and homemade pizza is perfect for that. I made the TruEats pizza crust mix and then set out all of our favorite toppings so everyone could make their own pizza.
The packaging is easy to read, and the instructions on the back are really clear, which made it especially easy for my 10-year-old to follow along. She loved being able to look at the package
and figure out the steps herself. It was one of those recipes where I could hand her the bag and let her take the lead, which made her feel so proud of the pizza she helped make.
I love when my kids can actually participate in making dinner instead of just watching me do everything!
How We Made Allergen Free Pizza Crust
One bag of TruEats Simply Delicious Pizza Crust Mix makes two 12-inch pizzas. For the crust, you’ll add the ingredients listed on the package, including:
- TruEats Simply Delicious Pizza Crust Mix
- Warm milk
- Olive oil
- Apple cider vinegar
- Sugar
- Baking powder
Here’s how we made ours:
- Add the TruEats pizza crust mix and the remaining ingredients to a stand mixer with the paddle attachment.
- Mix on low for about 2–3 minutes, until the dough comes together.
- Lightly coat the dough and bowl with oil, then cover and let the dough rest in a warm, draft-free area for about 20 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F.
- Divide the dough into two portions and shape each into a 12-inch pizza crust. 6. Add your pizza sauce and favorite toppings.
- Bake according to the package directions until the crust is cooked through and the toppings are hot and bubbly.
The package also reminds you not to eat raw flour, dough, or batter, so no sneaking bites of the dough!
Mom Tip: I like to have all of my toppings prepped and ready before the kids start making their pizzas. It makes the whole process much easier and lets everyone get right to the fun part—building their pizza!

Is There a Gluten-Free Pizza Crust Mix with Only Five Ingredients?
Yes! One thing I really like about TruEats Simply Delicious Pizza Crust Mix is its simple ingredient list.
The crust mix has five ingredients:
- Rice flour
- Whole grain oat flour
- Whole grain sorghum flour
- Xanthan gum
- Salt
It’s gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free and nut-free. It also has no sugar added.
This makes it a great option to keep in your pantry, especially in a house like ours where kids with different dietary needs often come through the door. Since my daughter follows a gluten-free diet, I know how helpful it is to have an easy option on hand that she can enjoy alongside everyone else.
I always recommend checking the package label and talking with the parents of any child with food allergies before serving, since everyone’s needs and sensitivities can be different.
Now back to pizza making!
How Can You Make Pizza Without Dairy, Eggs, Soy or Nuts?
The TruEats crust handles the base. The mix itself is gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, and nut-free.
If you want to make the entire pizza dairy-free, simply swap the regular cheese for your favorite dairy-free shredded cheese. You’ll also want to check the labels on your pizza sauce, cheese and other toppings, since those ingredients can contain allergens too.
What Are the Best Kid-Friendly Toppings for Homemade Pizza Night?
One of my favorite things about pizza night is that everyone in my family likes something completely different! We set out all of our toppings and let everyone make their own pizza.
Our family favorites are:
- BBQ chicken — my son’s favorite
- Bacon and sausage — my husband’s go-to
- Pepperoni, jalapeños and pineapple — my favorite combination
I love that everyone can customize their pizza exactly how they like it. It also makes dinner a lot more fun when the kids get to be involved and create their own pizzas.
And if you’re making these for someone with food allergies, be sure to check the labels on your sauce, cheese and toppings as well.
The kids loved being able to make their own pizzas, and I loved having a dinner that didn’t require me to make something completely different for everyone. Having a gluten-free option for my daughter means she can be right there making her own pizza along with everyone else.
How to Make Mini Muffin Tin Pizzas
And once we had the pizza-making down, we decided to have a little fun with the TruEats mix and turned our pizza dough into mini muffin tin pizzas!
I divided the dough into 24 small balls and pressed each one into a greased muffin tin, bringing the dough slightly up the sides. Then we added pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and mini pepperoni and finished them with Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning.
I baked them at 375°F for 14–17 minutes, until the dough was cooked through and the cheese was melted and bubbly. After letting them cool for a few minutes, they popped right out of the muffin tin.
The kids loved having their own individual little pizzas. They were easy to grab, easy to eat and so much fun!
These would be perfect for an after-school snack, lunchbox treat, game day or even a fun dinner when you want to switch things up.
