German Pancakes or Simple Hootenanny
German Pancakes
German pancakes will impress your whole family!
German pancakes are going to be your new family favorite!! These easy pancakes are called Hootenanny, German, Growing Pancakes, or honestly whatever you want to call them. My new name for them is Easy Blender Pancakes because is truly what they are.
A little backstory —
On Sunday I was starting to make homemade biscuits when my 7-year-old came in and requested pancakes instead! If you could see my little boys face you would pretty much do whatever he says! He is a little dreamboat and just loves to help me prepare breakfast when he can find the time! I had been wanting to make these pancakes for my family for a while and when I realized it was throwing stuff in a blender, put in a pan, and serve I was all about it!
These blender pancakes are made with ingredients you have on hand. They are so fast to make and has very little cleanup. Every mom’s dream, right? The piece that took the longest was preheating the oven!

How to Store German Pancakes
I’m going to be honest – I have never had to store these and my gut tells me that they may get a little soggy if you try to microwave them after you made them. They are so simple, I would recommend making a fresh batch instead of trying to reheat them! The buttermilk syrup saves very nicely and can be reheated over again!
This looked SO fun! And since we’ve got German ancestors, we had to try this recipe!! So we quickly whipped it up and while it was cooking made a 5 minute berry sauce to go on top. It was delicious!!! Thank you for this recipe! I’ll be making it often for my little family 💛
My husband is dairy free due to an allergy… has anyone every tried this recipe with almond milk instead?
Loved these! Thanks for sharing. Your recipes are so delicious & delinks.
I used Trader Joe’s coconut milk and had used 1/4 cup of just the fat on top at first. But then added another 1/4 cup of the milk and it was seriously delicious!!!!
I love it and use it so often! This is absolutely my favorite recipe ever!
